need a great cake bakery in Portland

My family is celebrating a graduation at UNE this weekend. The ceremony is in Portland and the party is in Biddeford. I%26#39;d like to order a cake from a bakery in the area.

My preference is for flavor over presentation. Any recommendations? Favorites include hazelnut, espresso, carrot, mocha, combo nut and fruit etc.

Thanks.

I haven%26#39;t been there, but I%26#39;ve heard good things about Geo%26#39;s Patisserie, which is at 27 Forest Avenue. They have a website at www.geospatisserie.com.

Since you%26#39;re going to be in Biddeford, I checked around a little bit. I found a place called Reilly%26#39;s Bakery, at 232 Main St. in Biddeford, phone number (207) 283-3731. If you Google it, you%26#39;ll find a couple of very enthusiastic reviews on Yahoo. Also, a nice article about the bakery can be found at:

thorntonacademy.org/students/…reilly.shtml

I generally wouldn%26#39;t give advice about places I haven%26#39;t been, but it looks like you don%26#39;t have a lot of time and nobody has replied yet, so I thought I%26#39;d throw this out there.

By the way, the reason I haven%26#39;t been to these bakeries in Portland and south is that I live 40 minutes north of Portland.

Thanks, I%26#39;ll check out both of those. Definitely time is critical, so I%26#39;ll start calling now.

I know the distance between Portland and Biddeford isn%26#39;t just a run to the store, so I also have to figure out when places are open - either to pick up after the graduation or perhaps the day before.

Thanks again, any other suggestions welcome.

http://www.cheriesbakery.com/ in Kennebunk is on my ';worth going totally out of my way to stop at'; list. It%26#39;s not too far from the interstate and might take just as long as trying to find something in Biddeford.

If you can stop on the drive up, Kennebunk is easily accessible. Just hop off the interstate at the Kennebunk exit, pick up the cake, and get back on the road.

Mapquest it before you go to make your stop easier.

I always get cakes at Cakes Extrodinare on Brighton Ave near Marden%26#39;s - YUM!! Go down Steven%26#39;s ave and turn right onto Brighton, about 2 miles down the road on the right- good luck!
