I have never been to Maine even though I am a 2 1/2 hr drive! I am heading there for this weekend. I REALLY want to have Maine lobster. We are staying in Biddeford but will spend Saturday at the Civic Center in Portland. Any restaurants NEAR the civic center so we can leave the car parked and walk? Anyone know of anything down near Biddeford either?
Restaurants in PortlandYou should walk down to the waterfront, especially as you%26#39;ve never been here before. 4-5 short blocks to DiMillo%26#39;s floating restaurant. Not the finest dining, but they do a good job with lobster. None of the little seasonal places are open this time of year, unfortunately.
Restaurants in PortlandHi megnasamsgrace,
Two LIghts Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth (about 10 minutes south from downtown Portlandand just north of Biddeford) just opened for the season last weekend. DEFINITELY go there for lobster and spectacular views out to sea. Nearby is Portland Headlight with more spectacular views. You won%26#39;t be disappointed !
Regarding restaurants near the Civic Center. Depending on what you consider walkable, I%26#39;d head down to the Old Port area where there a zillion restaurants. Just beware that many require reservations or you%26#39;ll have anywhere from a 1 to 2 hour wait!
I like Street and Company and Fore Street but both can be hard to get into. They are located in the Old Port. If you can%26#39;t get into those just browse the area and see what entices you and hope for the best!
Good luck and enjoy your visit.

I agree with cozyharbor about Fore Street and Street %26amp; Company. I%26#39;m not sure about the latter, but Fore Street holds a number of tables (about 15% of the total, I think) for walk-ins.
I don%26#39;t think that either one takes reservations over the internet, however, the phone numbers are:
Fore St. 207 775-2717
Street %26amp; Co 207 775-0887
Fore St. has a website: www.forestreet.biz
I was unable to find one for Street %26amp; Co.
There is an incredible new restaurant in the Old Port on Wharf St. across from Street and Co. It is called Cake. They specialize in dessert but have a great overall menu as well! I ate there last night for the first time and we loved it!! I had the Lobster Angel Hair. YUM!!
