Beachwood Resort - Goose Rocks Beach (Kennebunkport)

Hi all -

We usually stay at the Beachwood for our annual family get-together at Goose Rocks Beach. We usually would have had a mailing from them by now and their website doesnt seem to be working. We%26#39;ve tried calling and there is no sign of life yet. Any of you locals know if it%26#39;s going to be opening this year?

If not, we may have to splurge and stay at the Tides Inn!!

Found out the answer....the Beachwood is closed permanently and condos will be built in it%26#39;s place.

ugh. I am heartbroken.

My family has been staying at the Beachwood for over 18 years and did not last year as my oldest was stationed in Afghanistan and we could not seem to keep the tradition without her. Now she is home safe and sound and we have been looking forward to our annual week %26#39;at the Beach'; but we too had the same problem getting in touch. We recently rec%26#39;d a letter from Kathleen Spang saying she is the owner, operator of the Ocean Woods Resort...on the road to Goose Rocks Beach. We checked it out. It is lovely but definately not the same as the Beachwood. I loved the old fashioned charm, affordability for a family, and general %26#39;feel%26#39; of the Beachwood. I am so sad to hear they %26#39;caved%26#39; and sold out to a developer for condos!!

We have never stayed at the Tides Inn. Do you recommend it?

I am sure there are many like us who wish will miss the Beachwood and will look back fondly at all the memories.
