Rentals at Otter Creek

We are traveling to Maine in July and I was wondering if anyone had ever rented a cottage in The Village of Otter Creek. I already have a reservation at Bar Harbor Motel, but was looking for something with a kitchen since I have a child. The website looked nice but I wanted an opinion from someone that has stayed there.

I%26#39;m actually confused where Otter Creek is. If I google ';Otter Creek, ME';, it returns a map centered near Long Pond and Echo Lake but if I look at a map of MDI, Otter Creek is south of Bar Harbor on Rte 3.

Last year we stayed at Bar Harbor Motel for three nights and then we had a weekly vacation rental near the intersection of Rte 3 and Schooner Head road. We liked the Motel and will stay there again this year too. The rental near Schooner Head road was fine. You couldnt really walk to town though and that is a pre-requisite for some of our family. If you plan on visiting BH a lot but not staying in town, Otter Creek (the south of BH one) seems like a good choice. You can drive towards town and park close enough to walk in without navigating Rte 3 going through town.

Is there a specific house/cottage you have a website address we can look at?

Thank you for replying. The website was vacationrentals.com and the listing stated it was The Village of Otter Creek (Otter Creek Cottages). It also mentioned The Otter Creek Inn and Market. I think it is also close to the The Burning Tree Restaurant. Did you like staying at the Bar Harbor Motel? I have an eight year old son and was wondering if he would like staying there? The website reviews seem to report that it is a nice place to stay. Thanks for any info.

It looks nice and clean. I%26#39;d like that. You may want to get clarification from the owner/manager as to how far it is from Bar Harbor if you plan on going into town. It might not be walking distance (anything south of the intersection of Schooner Head road and Rte 3 is not walking distance, especially with children). You may be using your car a lot. There%26#39;s nothing wrong with that but its nice to know what to expect.

The Bar Harbor Motel worked out well for us and our kids - 7 and 3 at the time. They have a pool and a small playground. They dont have kitchens or free breakfasts if thats important for you. The rooms are very clean. I actually wrote a review here on Trip Advisor for them, look back at reviews around July 2006.

She stated it was three miles to town. I guess I will have to decide soon. Thank you for the information.

Otter Creek is a small village with grocery store, laudermat about 3 miles from Bar Harbor, they have a year round community there, not sure how many people, but it is convient to bar harbor. It%26#39;s a nice area and they have a wonderful resturant there.
