What do do in Camden?

We will be in Camden for 1 day, midmorning on a Thursday-midmorning on a Friday. We are thinking about doing a windjammer tour but I%26#39;d like to know what other activities are popular in the area. Thanks.

I am going to assume that you are driving North into Camden, arriving 10:30ish.

(I don%26#39;t have any experience with Windjammer cruises but I%26#39;ll give you some other activities in the area we enjoy)

You like lighthouses? Before you get to Camden, take a right onto Rte 131 in Thomaston, drive south until you hit Port Clyde. Grab a sandwich to go at the General Store and have a picnic at Marshall Point lighthouse in Port Clyde. Truly a beautiful lighthouse and setting.

From there drive back north towards Camden take 73 N, stopping at Owl Head light. Its a short walk from the parking lot to the light. Very nice views from the top of the hill.

Head north again on 73N towards Camden. Rockland has a nice %26#39;Main St%26#39; with shops to walk around if you are into that thing. Also in Rockland is the Breakwater Light. Its a nice walk out to the light but it will take some time.

Once in Camden you can either hike or drive up Mt Battie for a great view of the town and harbor. Camden is a great town to walk around in, especially in the afternoon before dinner. Another place to check out is RockPORT. Its the sister-town of Camden and its harbor is also very pretty albeit not as crowded.

Camden has many good places to eat. If you end up having lunch in Camden, the Camden Deli is very good.

acadiafan gave you some great suggestions.

During what month are you visiting?

Another lighthouse that is an easy trip from Camden is Pemaquid Point. It%26#39;s one of the prettiest in Maine. On way down eat at Moody%26#39;s Diner in Waldobor, on the way back eat at Shaws Wharf in New Harbor.

We will be visiting in late June on our way from Bar Harbor down to Ogunquit. Thanks for the recommendations!
