Bar Harbor Manor or Grand?

Need a two bedroom unit in town in July. Bar Harbor Manor and Bar Harbor Garnd both have 2BR unit and their prices are comparable. They are both supposed to be about 1/2 mile from downtown. We will have our child (almost 2yr) with us so looking for a nice walk/stroll. Which one has better stroll to the town - on Cottage Street form Manor or Main street from Grand? We would like to have stores, restaurants, grocery store, etc. nearby. Thank you.

The stroll from the Grand to the village center would be marginally shorter; the stroll from the Manor would be somewhat more quiet.

Main Street is Rte 3---the main highway through the village; Cottage Street is one of the major commercial streets---shops, restaurants, etc.

The Manor would also give you the alternative of walking along Mt. Desert St. which parallels Cottage St one block over. It is an area of bed and breakfast inns and churches until you get to the Village Green.

I have called Manor and got mixed information (actually a little dissapointed with their customer service) .... so I may not be able to get 2BR unit there after all. How long is the work to the village center from Grand? How long of walk is it until we see any sign of shops and restaurants? When you say that Main Street is the major highway, is it safe to walk or stroll?

Also, it looks like it is right by the hospital. Does it get loud? Thanks in advance.

Walking from the Grand you will encounter stores and restaurants immediately. It%26#39;s about three blocks from the Village Green which is arguably the center of town. It%26#39;s safe to walk because there are sidewalks on each side of the street and marked crosswalks at intersections.

The hospital is a pretty tiny place. Not much noise associated with that. There isn%26#39;t even a helipad at the hospital. There might be traffic noise at the Grand. But it shouldn%26#39;t be too bad. The Grand is an almost new place, The Manor is an oft-updated, quite old place.

The Bar Harbor Grand is a great option. It is closer to the downtown area than the Bar Harbor Manor. There is also a restaurant right beside the Grand that I highly recommend, called McKay%26#39;s Public House.
