DH are finally taking our honeymoon after almost 2 years of marriage. We will be spending 5 nights in the Bar Harbor area and need some help picking a B%26amp;B. We would like to stay a little outside of Bar Harbor. We had picked out the Kingsleigh in Southwest Harbor as a possibility, but it looks like it is already booked (we are coming at the end of August). I have browsed through the B%26amp;B reviews, but I%26#39;m still having trouble deciding where to go. We want something a little quieter than Bar Harbor (but still close to Acadia), would like something on the water and if possible, would like a balcony/deck off of the room.
Thanks for your help!
Please suggest some B%26amp;Bs
I would suggest Anne%26#39;s Point Inn located in Bass Harbor. The inn is located in a quiet spot on the water. It is a little bit of a drive to restaurants and the park (15 minutes or so). There is also The Inn at Bayledge. They are located a couple miles outside of the village of Bar Harbor. The house sits on top of a cliff with beautiful views. A 90 step staircase takes you down to the water where you can explore the rocky coast and caves.
Being partial to Bar Harbor, I would also recommend that you reconsider staying in town. There are several lovely B%26amp;B%26#39;s, most within walking distance to restaurants and close enough to the carriage roads and park loop road that you could bike from town and not need your car. Although Bar Harbor is busy in August, it is still a quiet little town. As busy as it gets, it%26#39;s never as busy as most other popular tourist locations I%26#39;ve been to. I think that if you are staying for five days, you may enjoy all of the features that Bar Harbor has to offer - fine dining, the shore path, whale watching, nature cruises, live music in the evenings, concerts in the village green, etc . . . You may find you spend a lot of your vacation driving over this way!
That being said, all of MDI is beautiful. You really can%26#39;t pick the wrong place!
Please suggest some B%26amp;Bs
Thanks for the suggestions. If we were to consider something in Bar Harbor, are there any B%26amp;Bs in particular that we should look at?
You can go to www.sleepbarharbor.com which is the website for the Bar Harbor Bed and Breakfast Association. There you can type in the specific amenities that you are looking for to help you choose a B%26amp;B that suits your needs. They also have an Availability page that will list which inns have rooms available for your stay.
Happy Hunting!
If you want to stay in Bar Harbor and be on the water you should check out The Saltair Inn. They have really good reviews on this site and although it is in town Bar Harbor it is a little way away from main part of town and it is on the water with fantastic views. Good luck with your search!
