one day in ogunquit

I am planning to drive up to ogunquit for a day. I can%26#39;t believe I live so close and have never done this! I will probably get there around 9 am and will be there until about 6 pm. Any ideas for an itinerary for the day? I love the beach, beautiful views, just seeing the sights and great lobster. I would like a restaurant with a nice view, nothing fancy. Am open to all suggestions!

If you get there early like at 9 you can park up at the footbridge beach parking lot. This is the northern end of Ogunquit beach. Walk south on the beach for about 5 minutes and you can find a spot with very few people around you. Another short walk south will take you back to the main beach. You can get lunch at one of the snack bars there. (There is also a small snack bar at the footbridge beach.) The Ogunquit Lobster pound on Route 1 has great lobster and is not real fancy. But if you want a nicer view go down to Perkins Cove. Barnacle Billys Etc or the Oarweed in Perkins Cove both have great food, are informal with a nice view. Stay away from Jackies Too. To get to Perkins Cove you could leave your car at the footbridge parking lot and take the trolly down there. You could try driving, but traffic to the cove and parking could be an issue. Or, if you were adventurous, you could walk on the Marginal Way ( a beautiful walk along the cliffs from downtown Oguqnquit to Perkins Cove. Its about a 25 minute walk. Then you could either walk back or take the trolly back. Walking around the town a little to check out the shops is fun too.

If you don%26#39;t mind taking your lobster at the end of the day / on your trip back home, go to Chauncy Creek Lobster in Kittery. It%26#39;s a very sweet location, http://www.chaunceycreek.com/ and you feel sorta like you%26#39;ve happened up on a more authenic lobster pound, away from the throngs of tourists.

Warning that it%26#39;s off the beaten track, so use a GPS or print out your driving instructions from mapquest before you go.

If you want lobster at lunch, you could try one of the restaurants at Perkins Cove in Ogunquit. like Barnacle Billy%26#39;s, http://www.barnbilly.com/ It likewise has a nice view, it%26#39;s just going to be in a higher tourist traffic area than Chauncey Creek.

Thank you! I appreciate the suggestions.

Atternysteve had some great ideas. We usually stay at foobridge beach. Great to people watch. It%26#39;s a nice walk down to the main beach. Take a trolley to Perkins Cove and definetly dine at Oarweeds or Billie%26#39;s. I prefer Oarweeds view. Then walk it off by strolling the Marginal Path and finish it by walking to the center of town and catching a trolly back to footbridge beach. If you crave fried clams for dinner before leaving, go up RT1 to Wells and try Mike%26#39;s Clam Shack. They are my favorite ones in the area. We do day trips to the area all the time so enjoy.

Fried clams sound good!

If you%26#39;re in the mood for a great lobster roll for lunch along with a great view, try the Blue Willow in Perkins Cove. I don%26#39;t believe they%26#39;re open for dinner, but they have a great lunch!

There is a lobsterman in Perkins Cove who takes tourists out on his boat. You get to see him pull up his traps and hear him talk about lobstering. His wife sells tickets and lobsters. You also get a nice view of the homes along the shore.
