My husband and 4 year old stayed at Beach Gardens last summer, and hoped to return to OOB next summer. While the proximity to the beach was great, the unit was very dirty, the staff were not very helpful and the kitchenette was terribly small...with no pots! Our son has multiple food allergies so eating out is not an option.
We hope to go back summer 2008 with our 6 year old and an 18 month, and my sister, brother in law and nephew will join us. I am looking for a larger unit still on OOB, with 4 bedrooms and a full sized kitchen. We don%26#39;t want to pay a lot of money, but we do want something a little nicer. Does anyone have a recommendation??
The area was so much fun that we hope to make it there from Canada every couple of years.
Thanks in advance!
Looking for OOB accomodations for a family group
i am so surprised to hear that because we stayed there and it was awesome. in fact, the staff was very helpful, although i must admit, there was a language barrier because of the front desk girls being foreign. our apartment was spotless and roomy enough for 4 of us. we had plenty of dishes, pots, pans etc. in fact my mother in law came and stayed a few nights also.
anyhow, there are quiet a few other places but you mentioned 2008 and anything can change inside of 2 years so be careful with reserving.
Looking for OOB accomodations for a family group
Dear NFgal:
I have a suggestion for you, but I don%26#39;t know if it will be too much $$ for you. My wife and I just recently bought a 5 bedroom house in OOB (3/10%26#39;s of a mile to the beach). When we bought it, it had just been renovated. There wasn%26#39;t a stick of furniture so we have had to furnish it with all new beds, new dining room set, new refrigerator, new couches, chairs and TVs. We%26#39;re just about done and it%26#39;s starting to look great! We have a large yard and multi-car driveway and the house is on a dead end street, so it%26#39;s very quiet. We won%26#39;t be able to use the house for the entire summer, so we have decided to rent it out when we%26#39;re not using it. We%26#39;re pretty flexible, so we can accommodate pretty much any week.
The rent during July and August will be $2000 per week.
Let me know if you are interested.

Here%26#39;s another thought. Rent a trailer at Bayley%26#39;s. It is busy and not truly a camping experience but with young children it opens up a ton of other opportunities. They have heated pools, free trolley to the beach, family entertainment and room to roam. For a campground the bathrooms and showers are clean. The rental trailers have full kitchens -- so food prep isn%26#39;t a problem. While personally my husband I would prefer somewhere quieter our kids love the place, and from a very young age begged to stay there. They love the fishing derby and the large playgoround. We end up being very relaxed because the place is full of families and family behavior. We have camped with a baby as young as 7 months old without any issues at all.
We are three friends (girls) looking for housing for summer 2007(May, 14-September, 3). We will be working for Amusement park in the Old Orchard Beach Area. We are students at American University in Bulgaria, and we will appreciate your thoughts and suggestions!
Thanks in advance!
Thanks to everyone who responded to my posting! Gary, I may just connect with you next year when we are making reservations. Your house sounds amazing..Thanks again,
NFGAL
the normandie inn has new beach house units he has a 4 bedroom very nice its like a whole house 2 bathrooms all new , and ocean is right behind you 1500 a week we went there and stayed 2 weeks best place i ever stayed at has a inside pool and jacuzzi owner is really nice housekeeping is great you should check it out .... good luck
Just one word of advice - most apartment type units get booked a year in advance - people book for next year when they are leaving this year, so don%26#39;t wait too long or you may be scrambling for accommodations.
The Normandie is really nice, as is The Alouette, but there are a lot of private homes that get rented out weekly during the summer. Check with local realtors and rental agencies.
We stayed at the Echo Motel and Cottages, and they have a variety of options, they have a new 3 bedroom house which is really close to the ocean, and 3 oceanfront cottages, they told me they are very popular so book early!
Have stayed in OOB, Ocean Park many times. Tamarack-Realty and Seashore Property Management sites are very helpful but the rentals book up quickly. Some of the rates are ridiculously priced for a week but there are some that aren%26#39;t too bad. Baileys campsite is a wonderful place for families, not really right in OOB but a short drive away. They also have a double decker bus that takes you to a beach close by. Good luck and enjoy the beach!
