Lobster Pound .. prices??

I understand we can eat lobsters at a cheaper price at those lobster pound places than in one of more formal restaurants, correct? But what is the price we are talking about here? Can someone give me the most recent prices for lobster at those lobster pound places?

As far as I know, none of the lobster pounds around here are open yet.

The way the market is now, there may not be any bargains this year; a few weeks ago lobsters were selling at $10/lb and up.

Thanks for the heads up. I did not realize those places remained close as of now. Does anyone know when roughly they will open for business again? I will be there during the Memorial Day weekend and hope all of them are open by then...

Some may be open, but there won%26#39;t be any ';bargains'; until soft shell lobsters are available. And those won%26#39;t be plentiful before July 4th.

Figure on roughly 20 bucks a lobster, with chips and a coke thrown in.

And, if it%26#39;s the kind where you pick out your own lobster, you can always get a smaller lobster to help keep the price down.

They are through the roof right now. It%26#39;s killing me!

Just an update...lobster prices just recently dropped last week and will slowly continue to do so until about August. Prices do vary day to day, but right now they are much lower than they were a few weeks ago. Reasons being...1. Now that they weather is getting nicer, more lobstermen are putting there boats back in the water (there are roughly only about 20% of lobstermen that lobster year round in this area). 2. It is currently the Canadian lobstering season (they have a restricted 6 month season I believe).

The idea of getting a smaller lobster will not make your price per pound less, unless you are considering a larger lobster (often the price per pound is more for larger lobsters).

The lobster pounds in Trenton are starting to open, both Lunts and Downeast Lobster Company (across from Trenton Bridge) are opened. I don%26#39;t know what their prices are, I%26#39;ll be up there over the weekend and check it out.

As of Saturday May 26, Lobster prices at Thurston%26#39;s Lobster Pound are as follow..

Small: $12.00 / lb

Medium: $12.50 / lb

Jumbo: $12.75 / lb
