Hi. My cousin is getting married in Walpole in July and my sister and i and our families need to find a place to stay that would be suitable for three kids under 3. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi thb013,

Your post is under the Boothbay Harbor forum but you mentioned that the wedding is in Walpole. Do you want to stay specifically in BBH, somewhere in between, or the town of Walpole or close by? If you can be more specific than I think you might get more responses :).

We are thinking Boothbay Harbor due to it%26#39;s selection of places to stay and things to do. It seems most of the places around Walpole are B and Bs which i do not think would appreciate 3 kids under 3 years old. However, if someone does have a suggestion in Walpole, we would be happy to look into it, also. So, yes, Boothbay Harbor suggestions, please! Thanks.

Hi Again,

Depending on your finances, here are a few family friendly places to stay in BBH. I%26#39;ve listed them in ascending order from least expensive to most expensive.

Both the Flagship Inn and Seagate Motel offer basic accomodations with a pool, and cable tv, phone in room, private baths, etc. The Seagate also offers a continental breakfast and refrigerators which might come in handy with kids. Plus it%26#39;s a bit closer to downtown and thus easier to walk to. However, the trolley makes regular continuous stops at the Flagship and might be fun for the kids to ride. Both offer internet access.

If you want to be right in the heart of downtown BBH the Tugboat Inn or Fisherman%26#39;s Wharf Inn might be the place to stay. However, neither place offers a pool nor do they include breakfast. But both are right on the harbor and offer spectacular views to all the boating activity. The higher prices are for the location.

The Rocktide Inn and Browns Wharf and Marina are on the east side might also be the way to go. The Rocktide offers an indoor, heated pool and a great restaurant and bar. Brown%26#39;s also has a nice restaurant (though it%26#39;s not as good as the Rocktide). Both are right on the water, have their own marina%26#39;s, and offer westerly views of the sunset and the harbor. Both are about a 15 minute walk over the footbridge and both have trolley service running continously into town.

A favorite of mine is the Ocean Pt. Inn. It%26#39;s located about 5 to 7 miles east of downtown BBH on beautiful Ocean Pt. Of all the major accomodations, this one offers the most for the money and has one of the prettiest locations/settings.

In addition they offer varied accomodations with some having gas fireplaces and kitchenettes. All units have refrigerators. Add to that spectacular views to 4 lighthouses, islands, open ocean, and sunsets along with an outdoor heated pool, hot tub, a great restaurant, and tennis courts and it has just about everything you could want. However, you might not feel comfortable dining in the evening at the restaurant with 3 little ones under the age of 3 as it%26#39;s pretty upscale. But breakfast would work :).

Very high end and expensive but beautiful is the Spruce Pt. Inn. This is about a 5 minute drive from downtown BBH and sits across from the water with great views to the harbor, sunsets, and open ocean. They have 2 pools, tennis courts, a spa, condo-like units, 2 restaurants, and loads of charm.

Last but not least is the Newagen Inn on the very tip of Southport Island. This is a lovely old fashion place with gardens, tennis courts, a pool, and wonderful old Maine ambience. It%26#39;s about a 10 to 15 minute drive from downtown BBH. You%26#39;ll feel like you%26#39;re a million miles away from everything. They also have a very nice restaurant.

All of the places I suggested are family friendly. Check out www.boothbayharbor.com, click on the visitors link, and then look for accomodations links. Most likely you%26#39;ll find links for every place I mentioned.

Good luck with everything and hope you have a great time at the wedding and in BBH :).
