Hi,
I will be be up in Freeport in August to attend one of the llbean summer concerts at the Discovery Park. I am hoping to find a decent priced hotel within walking distance to the concert. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your help!!!!

I think that the Hampton Inn and the Hilton Garden Inn are walkable from the park.
Hotel help-- llbean concert
Hi Lynney82,
As a frequent traveller to Maine (usually each September), we would highly recommend the Casco Bay Inn. It is right south of LLBean (about 1-2miles?) and is clean, quiet and comfortable. Nothing fancy but a solid place to stay....
By the way...my wife, myself, and our 5-year old are on our way for a concert there in August....any chance you are a Great Big Sea fan? That%26#39;s who we%26#39;re going up for in mid-August...
Enjoy!
Steve
Great Big Sea is fabulous!!! From Newfoundland. I may have to make the trip south for that one.
First of all, nothing is going to be that ';decent-priced'; in August That%26#39;s probably the most expensive month you could choose. Having gotten that out of the way, I%26#39;ll say the closest hotel would be the Haraseekeet Inn. Or, one of a handful of B%26amp;Bs in downtown Freeport. Next would be the new Hilton Garden Inn. Not incredibly close, but still in most folk%26#39;s walking distance.
We have frequent discussions on this forum about what constitutes ';walking distance'; and I%26#39;m going to draw the line after the Hilton Garden Inn and say the rest of your choice are not good walking distance. Unless you want to do some serious walking (15+ minutes) the other inns mentioned (Hampton or Casco Bay) while more affordably prices are not what most people would consider walking distance, especially if you think you might be walking back to your hotel after dark. Both are a considerable haul and you%26#39;ll be walking alongside a busy Route 1 where I%26#39;m pretty sure there are no sidewalks so you%26#39;d have to walk on the shoulder of the road.
The Hampton is the closer of those two, but still a haul. And, with the Casco Bay Inn you%26#39;ll have to cross Route 1, and you don%26#39;t want to do that in the vicinity of the Casco Bay as traffic.
If price is your most important consideration, then you may want to consider the Super Eight. It%26#39;s pretty good for a Super Eight, not too old, clean, and in the same area as the Casco Bay Inn, but it%26#39;s probably the best of the ';reasonably priced'; motels. Again, you%26#39;d have to walk alongside Route 1 and you%26#39;d have to cross some serious traffic on foot.
If you stay anywhere farther out than the Garden Inn, I%26#39;d say drive in to a closer parking lot where you can park and walk. Then afterwards, walk back to the car and drive the rest of the way to the motel.
Thank you for the suggestions everyone! I ended up booking a room at the Hilton.. pretty expensive, but it will be split between me and 3 friends.
Steve- Yes, I am a Great Big Sea fan, and that is who I will be up there to see!! Just saw them in Boston 2 weeks ago... Great show!!!
Hi! Although I read later on that you had already booked, let me post this for others reading for the same information...
The Hilton is the closest hotel to Discovery Park. You will walk 2 blocks to get to the venue. For a room with 2 beds, it%26#39;ll be well over $200, unless you have some sort of discount. No breakfast unless you pay extra.
The same 2-3 blocks away will get you a great room at a B%26amp;B, with breakfast. (Around $150)
If you are planning a drunken rave up, then by all means stay at a hotel. If you want a nice, clean place with friendly faces and wonderful food, pick a B%26amp;B. There are 10 in walking (easy walking) distance to Discovery Park.
The Hampton is 1.5 miles to Discovery Park, Casco Bay is about 4-5 miles. The Harraseeket is 2 blocks.
The Casco Bay Inn is in sight of the Hampton Inn. Maybe another quarter mile down the road. It%26#39;s not 4-5 miles away.
