We%26#39;ll be staying in Kennebunkport for 2 nights at the end of May, first of June. I know that White Barn is supposed to be terrific, but I%26#39;d rather not spend quite that much. I%26#39;m wondering if there%26#39;re other wonderful restaurants in the area, preferably walking distance from Capt Lord%26#39;s (don%26#39;t like to drink and drive). I hope we%26#39;ll be doing some lobster shacks for lunch, and I%26#39;ve enjoyed them for dinner on occasions in the past when the weather was warm enough to enjoy being outside. But since it%26#39;ll no doubt be inside dining at this time of year, I%26#39;d like something a little more ';upscale.'; Are there some great seafood restaurants in town that%26#39;d have well-prepared (not overcooked) lobster dishes and that might be quiet and relaxing for a special birthday dinner?
Thanks so much for feedback.
fine Kennebunkport restaurant for lobster/seafood?
You can easily walk to Dock Square from the Captain Lord. In Dock Square you%26#39;ll find Hurricane which has very nice food. They usually have steamed lobster and another lobster dish on the menu (stuffed lobster, Thermidor, etc). Hurricane has a great bar with an interesting Bar Menu if you are looking for something lighter than a full dinner. In addition, Bandaloop (on Cross St.) has a very eclectic menu with some very creative seafood choices (although not usually lobster). The chef/owner Scott Lee, is very highly thought of and runs a top notch small restaurant. It is not the typical Kennebunkport style restaurant...its a little edgy and daring in a positive way. Nice buzz to the place and considerably more lively than Hurricane%26#39;s.

Another thought...Windows on the Water is walkable from Capt Lord and they are famous for their Thai Lobster.
Thanks so much for these suggestions. We love Thai food, but have never had Thai lobster. Which of the 3 do you think would be more quiet? We tend not to enjoy ';happening'; kinds of places these days. (We%26#39;re in our 70%26#39;s.) Love terrific food, but don%26#39;t love to have to shout to be heard. I guess we have come to enjoy a ';tamer'; kind of scene (though dislike stuffiness and especially dislike pretention).
Thanks again!
Hurricane is quieter than Bandaloop (but can still be noisy if its crowded). Windows is quieter than both. BTW, the Thai Lobster is not hot and spicy. Its cooked in coconut milk and a very light curry. Its quite elegant and I like it a lot.
