Best Towns on Coast in Southern Maine for Mid June??

We%26#39;re hoping to steal a few days from visiting family in W. Mass to visit Maine - (midweek - if that makes a difference). As we don%26#39;t have much time (max 2 nights) am interested in folks%26#39; recommendations of where we should stay. We%26#39;re looking for quaint ,relaxing and within driving distance for %26#39;the best lobster%26#39; around! As we%26#39;re driving back to Va when we leave Maine, am focusing on the %26#39;southern%26#39; end of Maine.

Appreciate your time to answer.. Have browsed the various posts and continue to be impressed with the well written responses offered.

Best Towns on Coast in Southern Maine for Mid June??

Hi tishi,

I%26#39;d recommend staying at the Beachmere Inn in Ogunquit. It%26#39;s right on the water and Marginal Way, is a short walking distance to everything, and very charming. Google them and see what you think.

Meanwhile, Ogunquit has alot to offer i.e. great beach, the mile long Marginal Way path that has beautiful views out to sea and summer homes, a cute downtown with lots of shops, galleries, and restaurants, and a summer theatre venue where many a Broadway and/or Hollywood star has gotten their start.

A short drive from Ogunquit is route one with lots of antiques shops; beautiful Cape Neddick; Kennebunkport (summer home of Bush 41); and York.

About 30 minutes north is Portland and the lighthouse and one of the best located lobster in the rough places in Maine, Two Lights Lobster Shack. While in Portland browse the Old Port or even the art museum if that%26#39;s your thing.

An hour and a half north of Ogunquit is Freeport and LL Beans.

Good luck and don%26#39;t forget to report back about how your trip went :).
