Best palce to stay with kids

We are planning to be in the area June 15th weekend...Where woul dbe the best place to stay?

Best palce to stay with kids

I don%26#39;t think there is one ';best place'; to stay in Bar Harbor, with or without kids. It depends on how old the kids are, what amenities you would like, and how much you are willing to pay. Perhaps you could do some research, narrow it down to three or four places, and we could help you judge between those places.

A very nice place to stay, on the water, in the village of Bar Harbor, with a swimming pool, balconies, and a sunrise view Is The Bar Harbor Inn. barharborinn.com

A nice place, near the water, outside of the hubbub of Bar Harbor, in a quiet setting, with little two bedroom cottages, picnic tables, screened porches, and fully equipped kitchens is Bar Harbor Cottages and Suites. barharborcottages.com

A clean, comfortable, family-run motel with a shed for bikes, a swimming pool, and nice grounds that is often recommended here on tripadvisor by other families is the Bar Harbor Motel, just outside of the village of Bar Harbor. barharbormotel.com

And then there are dozens and dozens of other accommodations in the Bar Harbor and Acadia area.

All good recommendations.

The Bar Harbor Motel has two-bedroom family units that are a great deal. See http://www.barharbormotel.com/family.htm

we have an 8 year old and 14 year old. THe price is not a factor....Just want to have nice rooms and things for the kids to do

I am not sure what you mean by ';things for the kids to do.'; Are you looking for a self contained resort type hotel with activities and facilities for the kids? I am not sure that you will find that kind of place in BH or on the island, Mount Desert Island. SOme hotels will have pools, maybe a game room, I am not sure what else. Perhaps others know.

On the other hand, the whole experience of vacationing on Mount Desert Island/Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park is the availabiliity of so much recreational and exploratory activity. In that regard, there will be plenty for your kids, really for your family to do together, depending on what you like to do. Check out some of the other Bar Harbor discussions on this Forum for detailed discussions of what is available, how and where to access it, etc. But in general, there is great bicycling on miles and miles of gravel carriage paths (no cars)with plenty of rentals available, great hiking both easy and challenging, swimming in the cold ocean and in a beautiful lake, kayaking, nature cruises, whale watching, and much more.

If you are looking for the mini golf kind of activities, I think you need to go off island back up the road toward Ellsworth.

The towns on MDI are very safe and friendly. If you are staying in Bar Harbor, the largest town on the island, for instance, if your kids are pretty self reliant and trustworthy together (you know their limits), they could probably explore some of the town on their own together. They will also enjoy walking the rocky shore line, etc.

There are many ways to see the island and the national park, and I am sure you will all enjoy this together. The coast is beautiful and exciting, with waves crashing on rocks. The mountains come down to the sea in what always seems almost primordial to me. Sunrise and sunset from Cadillac Mountain is spectacular. There are seeral towns on the island that are wonderful for exploring. I am sure you and your kids willhave a great time. My kids always have, regardless of their age at the time.
