Hi TA members,
We have just a few precious vacation days to spend this summer, June 10-14, and so I%26#39;m really trying to make it great. We have two young children, 3 and 5, and are looking for a place on or near a beach.
What we are flexible on is a separate cottage and a fireplace. What we%26#39;re not as flexible on is that it have a kitchenette, at least with a fridge and microwave, preferably a stove too.
We%26#39;d also like other things for young kids nearby like a playground, arcade, zoo, bowling, mini-golf, maybe kiddy rides, etc. Those types of low-key things, not necessarily Six Flags.
It needn%26#39;t be in ME either - anywhere in NE is fine.
Thanks, friends, I really appreciate your time!

Have you considered Lake Winnipesaukee in NH? Within walking distance to Weirs Beach, where most of the lake activity takes place, you%26#39;ll find Channel Cottages and Naswa Cottages. Both are located on the Paugus Bay Channel, have their own beach, and the cottages are self-sufficient. Weirs Beach has several boat tours you can take to see the lake, a train ride where you can make your own ice cream sundaes, a large water park and various batting cages, go carts, etc. Plenty else to do in the area also. Both cottages have websites. Good Luck and enjoy New England!

(White Lamb cottages nearby are nice, too...but not right on the beach).
Hi Bellascope,
You might seriously consider Cape Cod as everything you want is right there. Especially in the towns of Dennis and Yarmouth. Check out the Cape Cod Chamber site as well as the TA forums for Cape Cod, Dennis and Yarmouth and see what you come up with.
As far as Maine goes; if you want a nice beach with lots going on check out Ogunquit. There%26#39;s a wealth of info on the Chamber site at www.Ogunquit.org. Nearby is Old Orchard Beach which can be a bit honky-tonk but fun and it offers a zillion activities for kids. I%26#39;d recommend definitely staying in Ogunquit with daytrips to OOB.
The Beachmere Inn in Ogunquit is a lovely place to stay. They are right on the water and there%26#39;s an easy path to the beach and Marginal Way. Plus almost all of their accomodations have kitchenettes with microwave, fridges, etc. Their motel units are especially great for small families. I%26#39;ve stayed there several times when my boys were younger. They sleep 4 and offer 2 separate rooms, plus bath and kitchenette area. In addition there%26#39;s a large lawn with bbq%26#39;s where families gather. They also offer a continental breakfast and wi-fi throughout the property. Check them out at www.beachmereinn.com.
Good luck with your plans!

Thanks for all the suggestions - I%26#39;m looking into every one. A lake is definitely a consideration!
Since it%26#39;s early June I%26#39;d stick to the ocean, the lakes might be full of flies and mosquitoes until July!
