Governor's Island--worth a visit?

will be visiting portland in july for 3 days.

I%26#39;m at the point of compiling a list of things to see *or at least attempt to* Is Governor%26#39;s or Mackworth Island worth a visit? I think I read somewhere the island is recovering from storm damage and could be closed. is that true?

Island Walking Path Closed

We are very sorry, but the walking path around Mackworth Island is closed until all damage from the Patriot%26#39;s Day storm can be cleaned up. We expect this to take three weeks. Upwards of 150 trees on the Island were downed in the storm. The state biologist has surveyed the nesting grounds of the Island%26#39;s turkey population and found no nesting hens or eggs present so the Department of Conservation has contracted with a local forester to begin the clean up. The work in clearing the three large areas of fallen trees started on Wednesday, May, 30.
