Jordan Pond Carriage Ride - 2 questions

I see that the Jordan pond carriage tour starts at 1;15 and goes two hours with the restaraunt stop baked in (no pun intended). They aren%26#39;t there to answer yet, and I wondered if anyone knew the way it went?

Ride, eat, ride or ride and eat and done? Does it start at 1:15 and finish at 3:15 with everything included?

Also, the message said they were open June 14th to take reservations and something about no reservations made more than a week out. Is this the case? i%26#39;ve got all my other stuff (sailing, whale watching, kayaks, bikes) rented already:)

Oh, and while I%26#39;ve got you...we always go to Geddes and I%26#39;ve seen nothing on here about it. Is it still open? We like it.

I have no experience with the carriage rides so I can%26#39;t help with that, except that I suspect that it is a round-trip deal.

It is not surprising that they are one of the later places to take reservations, etc. Once upon a time, the ';season'; in these parts was considered to be from July 4th through Labor Day, and some people still have not adjusted. ;--%26gt;

As for Geddy%26#39;s, I am happy to say that they are alive and thriving and still serve the best burgers on the island. Check in on geddys.com---they have a new webcam that you can manipulate.

The barns where the horses and carriages are kept are not all that far, really, from the Jordan Pond House. You load at the barns, travel for maybe twenty minutes to the Jordan Pond House, disembark, and have tea and popovers while the horses wait. I would guess they give you 40 minutes to an hour for popovers. Then you reboard and retrace your steps to the barns. Easily done in two hours.

So since the price doesn%26#39;t include the Pond House food, I%26#39;m wondering if it%26#39;s worth it to do the carriage ride. The price is similar to the price of a real two hour tour. This sounds like 40 minutes tops (20 each way) on the carriage. has anyone done the other tours and thinks they are better

Thoughts????

I%26#39;m not aware of the costs involved, but were it me---and I had the time---I%26#39;d schedule the carriage ride separately. You can have the popovers on the lawn at Jordan Pond House any day, and most of the afternoon.

I once did the horse-drawn carriage tour that didn%26#39;t stop at the Jordan Pond House. They went to the cobblestone bridge instead. There we all got out for a few minutes to explore the bridge while the horses got turned around.

Personally, I didn%26#39;t think the tour was all that great. I%26#39;ve walked every mile of the carriage road system and wasn%26#39;t impressed with the short distance that the ride went. Perhaps the sunset ride would be the best choice because they go up some elevation on Day Mountains.

I think you have to really like horses to enjoy this ride. One word of advice -- don%26#39;t sit in the first row of seats unless it won%26#39;t bother you to watch and smell the horses do an occasional poop.

My vote would be to take a carriage road %26lt;hike%26gt; and do the popovers on your own.
