Flying into Boston, driving into Maine. Anything I need to stop and see on the way? Any must do%26#39;s while I%26#39;m there? It will be over july 4 (3-5), don%26#39;t know if that will cause any limitations. Next I%26#39;ll be heading off to N. Conway. Any advice on that drive? How best to get there, what to stop off and see on the way? It%26#39;s my first New England trip--always wanted to do this. Thanks.

Hi soupkitchenchef,
Expect lots of traffic and crowds, especially if the weather is nice. Typically you can get from Logan Airport to Kport in under 2 hours, but holiday traffic can slow you down considerably. While you%26#39;re here, be sure to drive along Ocean Avenue, and try to time your drive midtide (preferably incoming) so you can stop and check out Spouting Rock and Blowing Cave. Neither is marked, so ask someone exactly where they are when you%26#39;re here. You can%26#39;t miss Blowing Cave - it%26#39;s where everyone parks to gawk at Bush%26#39;s house. Watch out for poison ivy on the way down to the cave!
At the end of Ocean Avenue turn right and head into Cape Porpoise for a look and smell at the lobster fishing pier. You can get a bite to eat at the outdoor fish shack type place there, too.
Further east of Cape Porpoise is Goose Rocks Beach. If you%26#39;re staying at a hotel in Kport they should be able to give you a permit for parking, otherwise you can buy a day pass at the police station. If you like beach walking and prefer your beaches somewhat less built up than most in this area, Goose Rocks is a good choice.
Other nearby outdoor areas include the Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge on Route 9 in Wells, Laudholm Farm at the Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve off Route 1 in Wells, Parsons Beach in Kennebunk, and East Point Sanctuary in Biddeford.
If you%26#39;re into history or architecture there are a couple of small museums and walking tours in both Kennebunk and Kennebunkport. And if you%26#39;re into shopping in small, independently owned gift shops, then the area surrounding Dock Square Kennebunkport can keep you occupied for an afternoon. There are several restaurants in the area too, and some are quite good. You can pick up one of the local tourist-oriented newspapers while you%26#39;re here and see what%26#39;s going on and what schedules are for events and opening hours of museums, galleries, etc.
I%26#39;ll let someone else advise on the route to N. Conway.
Enjoy your visit!

We did your route in reverse - started in Vermont and ended in Boston. Check our GoList for recommendations and have a great time!

Thanks for the advice. I can%26#39;t wait to get there.
ockerman---where is Peacham? It sounds cool and I have a little extra time on that leg of the trip but I can%26#39;t find it anywhere.
Peacham is midway between Groton and Danville on local roads - we were wandering the back roads at that point.
